Why does the quality of porcelain matter?

Porcelain for monuments is a unique form of commemoration that is designed to last for many years, regardless of the weather, season or light intensity. That is why the materials used and the method of creating the image on porcelain are so important. At Opal Fotoceramika, quality is not an extra – it is our standard.

For over 30 years, we have been providing photo ceramics that combine durability, aesthetics and precision of workmanship. Every element, from the pigment to the firing process, has an impact on how long the porcelain will look good.

What determines the quality of porcelain?

  1. Firing at 850–900°C
Our photo porcelain is fired in ceramic kilns at a very high temperature of 850–900°C. This allows the pigments to bond with the porcelain at a structural level, creating a durable, uniform surface that is resistant to external factors. This firing process ensures that the colours do not wear off and the photo does not fade over time.

  1. Lifetime colour durability

OPAL photo porcelain comes with a lifetime colour fastness guarantee. This means you don't have to worry about whether the photo will withstand frost, sunlight or heavy rain. The colours remain clear, saturated and resistant – even after many years of outdoor exposure.

  1. Ceramic toner, not ink

Unlike inkjet printing or low-quality prints, we only use ceramic toners that are fired together with the porcelain. They are responsible for the intensity and durability of the colours. The pigment does not come off, fade or peel.

Why choose high-quality porcelain?

  1. Weather resistance

Our products are resistant to:

- UV radiation,

- rain and snow,

- moisture and low temperatures,

- strong winds and weather changes.

They do not require protection, additional security or replacement after a few seasons.

  1. Scratch and abrasion resistance

The surface of fired porcelain is extremely hard. This makes the photos resistant to scratches, abrasion and mechanical damage that may occur during the cleaning of the gravestone.

  1. Deep, natural colours

Photographs on our ceramics have natural, vivid colours that preserve facial details, soft light and the original character of the photo. They are neither oversaturated nor faded - they look exactly as they should.
